What is your "why"? Why do you do what you do?
I aspire to inspire before I expire! Mentoring and inspiring others to follow their dreams, passions, talents and desires. Encouraging, teaching, and mentoring autistic & intellectually challenged young adults is one of my passions. I love to teach art and I am very creative with a beautiful imagination. -

About me
Michelle Puckett works with her desire to help those in need by founding the nonprofit organization Blooming Butterflies and Designer Diva Resale. Focusing on children, seniors, abused women, autistic & intellectually challenged young adults. The organization provides entire wardrobes to those in need by distributing clothes to shelter locations throughout the community. “Since 2010, we have provided assistance to 2,778 disadvantaged and battered women, 122 struggling men and around 2,487 senior citizens, not to mention the nursing homes my Lab, Sassy (after 16 years RIP), and I visit, helping them get their lives back on track and giving them a chance for success,” she said. No stranger to hardship herself, Puckett began painting butterflies (a live plant she makes into a beautiful piece of art) to raise money after her son was in a hit-and-run accident and required expensive surgery. That challenging time in their lives led to the creation of Blooming Butterflies and Designer Diva Resale and sparked a desire to help others who fall on challenging times. “Through this horrible experience, my son and I reached out and formed our own nonprofits so we could help others start over in life to the best of our ability because of the few individuals who reached out and helped us,” she said. As the organization’s executive director, Puckett handles all day-to-day tasks, from bookkeeping, mentoring programs, to picking up and sorting donations plus so much more. Those necessary daily functions give her the opportunity to see people’s lives transformed. “(My favorite thing about Blooming Butterflies and Designer Diva Resale is to see the smiles on the women's faces that have been battered and struggling, giving them hope for their future,” she said. “Our seniors also love it when I bring my Blonde Service Lab, ‘Sassy’ Angel Eyes (after 16 years RIP), with me to distribute butterfly magnets.” Although she has been able to help hundreds of local Houston residents so far, Puckett stresses that a nonprofit organization such as hers is always in need of more donations and volunteers to continue operating effectively. “Just like a beautiful butterfly, people can bloom and begin anew if given the right tools, clothing and support,” she said. “I pray one day soon to have a facility to accommodate qualified individuals to teach them how to search for jobs, write their resumes and provide the tools they need to help themselves.” -
