What is your "why"? Why do you do what you do?
Throughout my career, I have helped families navigate the often complex pathways of U.S. education. From curriculum planning for middle-school students to summer planning for beginning high-schoolers to college searches for seniors, my goal is always to find the best possible fit, helping each student reach their highest potential. I also teach literature and writing to help students communicate effectively, develop critical thinking skills, and express themselves well.

As a former college professor, I have a unique insight into what it takes to succeed in college. I foster these skills in my clients as they work with me both through my teaching and my college counseling. I offer trained expertise and individual attention so every student has a chance to follow their dreams.
About me
I am an Independent Educational Consultant and founder of Mindworks Educational Consulting. Prior to launching Mindworks, I was an Admissions Director and Camp Director for C&! and Epsilon Camp, summer math camps for highly gifted students. I have also served as President of PAGE (Partners for the Advancement of Gifted Education), an educational nonprofit in Raleigh, NC, been a School Board Member at Sterling Montessori Academy and Charter School (NC).and have taught at North Carolina State University, John Carroll University (OH), Duke University, and UNC-Chapel Hill.
I earned a B.A. Cum Laude from Harvard University in English/Slavic Languages and Literatures. I have an M.A. in Comparative Literature from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in Literature from Duke University. I have certificates in Slavic Studies, Women’s Studies, Statistics, and Independent Educational Consulting.
I live in Carrboro, NC with my husband and have two children, 15 and 22
I love literature, popular culture, and writing. My dissertation was on Cold War culture, so I have a particular fascination with the mid-twentieth century. Lately, I have also been very much enjoying popular music and have had fun going to concerts.
