About me
I was born to East Indian parents in a small town called Chatham, about 3 hours west of Toronto, Canada. Though I am a Canadian by birth, my name definitely is not! In case you are wondering, it’s a Sanskrit word that means “wise discernment of the mind” and is pronounced Vee-vake (rhymes with cake) :)
I am a creative at heart. Today, I’m a portrait photographer based in my natural light studio in the Arts District of Northeast Minneapolis, where I craft Vanity Fair-style legacy portraits for individuals, couples, high school seniors, mothers and daughters, and families, plus headshots and personal branding for business professionals, real estate agents, and entrepreneurs of all stripes. I’m passionate about my work and love igniting that same excitement in my clients—a portrait session with my team and I can truly transform how you see yourself.
While portraiture is my first love, my creative toolkit is diverse: I’ve worked as an illustrator, writer, videographer, and seasoned real estate photographer for retail, commercial, and residential properties. Before this chapter, I spent nearly a decade as a copywriter in Toronto’s advertising world, followed by another decade as a marketing manager in web software.
That decade-long rhythm broke in 2012 when a sudden green card whisked me to Minneapolis. I sometimes question moving somewhere colder than Toronto, but the chance to be near my brother and live my dream keeps me rooted here. ;-)
When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll find me practicing yoga, sketching, diving into online classes, enjoying time with friends and family, or lost in a book on Eastern philosophy, pondering my place in the universe. -
