  • Describe How You Would Like To Be Introduced Via Email
If you are looking to make an introduction/referral to me by email of a potential client email, please DO NOT tell the client I will call them and then pass his/her contact information to me. That could look like I am making an unsolicited call to someone who is not a client and as an attorney, we have ethical rules against "soliciting/cold calling" or the appearance of it.

If you want to make an Introduction/referral to me by email of a potential client, please send an email to both the potential client and me that is something like this, "[Referral] - I want to introduce you to Emily Kerinuk with MHPS. She's a family law attorney in Nashville, and we were connected through NIA. I've copied her on this email so the two of you can communicate directly." From that email, I will reply to the potential client directly and continue the communication from there.
  • What is your "why"? Why do you do what you do?
Family law issues have significant emotional and personal impact on the lives of those involved. I have experienced it in my own life, and I have seen countless friends and family go through the same. I strive to handle each situation with sensitivity and grace, and with the understanding that this is the likely one of the most transformative events in a client’s life.

Though my strategic approach to each case may be different, I approach every case with compassion. I’m a problem solver. I view each and every case with resolution in mind, and my goal is to craft solutions which cater to each client’s unique needs.
  • Qualifying Questions: What are three questions we can ask clients to help pave the way for a referral? List them here.
    1. Does the referral live in the middle Tennessee area? My practice is primarily focused in Davidson County and Williamson County, but I also practice in Robertson County, Rutherford County, Wilson County, and Maury County.

    2. Does the referral or their spouse own real property, have retirement accounts, or have complex assets (i.e. business interests, trusts, stock options)? If so, then the client needs to hire an attorney for their divorce. Real property, retirement accounts, and complex assets can be difficult to understand, and harder to divide. Advice from a professional is paramount in these cases.

    3. Does the referral have a child or children? If so, exploring options to craft a Permanent Parenting Plan unique to their situation is often one of the first considerations. The referral should consider contacting a professional to understand what the law provides for and how a plan can help them co-parent effectively.
  • About me
I am a Nashville native, and I graduated from Father Ryan High School in 2014. In 2016, I graduated magna cum laude from Flagler College in Saint Augustine, Florida, earning a bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications. I earned my Juris Doctor from Nashville School of Law in 2021 and am licensed to practice in the State of Tennessee.

I joined MHPS Law in 2020 and work primarily with the Family Law Team. My practice includes Divorce, High-Asset Divorce, Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements, Spousal Support Modifications or Terminations, Child Custody and Visitation, Child Support Modifications and Enforcement, Adoption, Parenting plan Modifications, and Parental Relocation cases. I approach each and every case with resolution in mind, and I am committed to offering compassionate support and detailed legal strategies to help clients navigate challenges clearly and confidently.

When I am not working, I savor my free time by spending it outdoors with my two dogs, Finn and Sawyer. I find joy in trying new recipes and exploring Nashville with my friends and family. I am a self-proclaimed bookworm and love to read any genre. Pass along your book recommendations!
